KLEIN pump in use during the Hajj in Mecca
With 2.5 million believers, the annual Hajj in Mecca is one of the largest pilgrimage festivals in the world, which took place again in 2022 from July 7 to 12. More than 300,000 mutton are slaughtered daily in a slaughterhouse to feed the many people there. To dispose of the animal waste from the slaughterhouse, we supplied and installed a total of eight pumps including hydraulic units.
The pumps then transported the remains via pipelines around two kilometers into the desert, where appropriate incineration plants were available. Each pump was capable of transporting around 60 cubic meters of animal waste per hour - a good average that ensured smooth operation in the slaughterhouse. The pumps in Mecca required some special adaptations and were individually manufactured so that they fulfilled their task 100%.
Shotcrete pump for underground mining in Salzgitter
We supplied a custom-built shotcrete machine for the Konrad shaft in Salzgitter, Lower Saxony, which will later be the final storage site for some of Germany's nuclear waste. The machine is mounted on a carriage and is driven by an electric motor. It is a special design that uses compressed air to spray steel fiber concrete against the wall at around ten bar via a mixing nozzle. This bundle of energy can produce 30 cubic meters per hour.
It is used to line the tunnels in the Konrad shaft so that they can withstand the pressure of the earth. The delivery of the shotcrete machine also involved special requests, which we were happy to meet in full. In contrast to large companies, as a small, family-run business we were once again able to respond flexibly to this special request and were also available at all times for direct advice and unbureaucratic support.
Special machine production for a paper mill in Austria
We supplied two custom-made S-tube piston pumps for a paper mill in Bruck an der Mur, Austria. The pumps were installed and commissioned by four of our service technicians. The order also included the manufacture of the electrical control system and the necessary hydraulic units. The drive unit was specially encased by us in a soundproof cabin so that the paper mill employees on site are not exposed to any unnecessary noise.
One of the hydraulic units delivers up to 250 kilowatts of power and the availability of the entire system is more than 99.5 percent. The paper mill in Bruck an der Mur (Styria), which belongs to the Norwegian paper group Norske Skog, requires the high-performance pumps to pump sewage sludge, which is incinerated in special ovens to generate energy. The piston pumps operate at a pressure of 100 bar and achieve a pumping capacity of 50 cubic meters of sewage sludge per hour.
